About the wine: The color is dark cherry red, ruby-hued. Nutmeg, potpourri and sweet strawberry on the nose, black cherry and plum palate, and a black pepper spice finish. The wine has a firm tannin structure that relaxes over about 20 minutes.
Noteworty: This Sangiovese won a silver medal at the 2009 Sonoma Harvest Fair after getting a bronze in 2008.

Recovering from BlogHer

I just spent the past four days at the BlogHer conference hanging out with a bunch of cool women who like to overshare online. Some I met online first, so now I always think of them by their aliases, like Sassafrass, Xiaolin Mama, and bossy, and others I met IRL before reading them like Glennia, Charlene, and Danielle. And of course I was joined at the hip to my BFF Stefania, aka the famous Citymama who had a book signing during the conference! I'm so proud of her!

All wicked smart, and good writers, and everyone is incredibly supportive, even when it's a bad idea, like getting two drinks at once.

My favorite part was that Stefania stayed with me for the whole long weekend. She sums up the conference perfectly, like she always does. Also, that's a picture of her saying "shit," on camera. In a pink Momocrats trucker hat. How fucking cool is she? Love it!

Bar Review: TOSCA

Tosca Bar, Columbus between Pacific and Broadway

Classic bar, nicer lino floor, hard woods, a real coat rack and one really really nice corner booth in the back. Very money. The girls bathroom is really pink in a cool retro way and on some days smells almost nice. No sticky beer feet here! This isn't a cheap drink place, but an unexpected after work place that is without those after work types.

For kicks, when it is busy, sit up front and watch the bartender pros make twenty Irish coffees at the same time. On cold rainy nights, curl up in the back with a Martini and read one of those City Lights favorites. Not a Saturday night deal, unless you like that hen's night out madness or you want to make friends with guys downing a few before hitting the Condor.

Aw, Snap

You could say that we're a tart bunch of ladies, 'round the wishbone clover offices. And you'd be...correct! In keeping with that trajectory, our new "official" drink: the lemon snap. To make, take a lemon drop, wipe off that disgustingly sweet sugar crust, dip the rim in salt, and pour in the delightfully vodka based libations. The result: our perfect drink.
