Part of the reason I never have time to write here is that I'm so busy with these ladies, my Clever Girls Collective business partners.

We're busy, but we sure look happy, right? That's because we were at the Bossy No Book Tour Bay Area Meet up in Palo Alto, and we loved seeing Georgia and all of our local blogging, Twittering, Facebooking friends in real life.

That's also the reason we're wearing name tags because let's face it -- if people don't look exactly like their Twitter avatars, it can be hard to remember names.

Look, we invited husbands! Because it's good to bring a driver we love them.

BTW, the Clever Girls are working on big things, and we hope to have some big news to share very soon. Until then, have you joined the Clever 1000, our network of social media mavens?

Believe me, it's good to be Clever. And it keeps getting better!

The Best Way to Spend a Sunny Friday

See how the red cups make it feel like a "special" occasion?

Last week a whole passel of family hit town to help celebrate two birthdays -- my aunt's 50th and my 40th.

The frequently/usually frigid SF weather cooperated for several days, including a gorgeous sunny day last Friday. I met up with the gang at the Ferry Building, where we stocked up on Cowgirl Creamery cheese, a salumi sampler from Tasty Salted Pig Parts, a couple of loaves of Acme Bread, and many, many bottles of wine.

Outside by the Bay, we commandeered several chairs, a bench, and a cast iron table, on which we spread out our gourmet picnic, made only slightly ghetto by the red plastic cups.

My east coast family members were amazed that we could drink a bottle of wine while sitting at the Ferry Building, soaking up the sun while gazing at the Bay Bridge and Alcatraz.

Okay, we did more laughing and teasing than gazing serenely, but the location was delightful, as was the company.

San Francisco: the best place in the world to drink in public with loved ones on a sunny Friday in May.

Recovering from BlogHer

I just spent the past four days at the BlogHer conference hanging out with a bunch of cool women who like to overshare online. Some I met online first, so now I always think of them by their aliases, like Sassafrass, Xiaolin Mama, and bossy, and others I met IRL before reading them like Glennia, Charlene, and Danielle. And of course I was joined at the hip to my BFF Stefania, aka the famous Citymama who had a book signing during the conference! I'm so proud of her!

All wicked smart, and good writers, and everyone is incredibly supportive, even when it's a bad idea, like getting two drinks at once.

My favorite part was that Stefania stayed with me for the whole long weekend. She sums up the conference perfectly, like she always does. Also, that's a picture of her saying "shit," on camera. In a pink Momocrats trucker hat. How fucking cool is she? Love it!

God and I Love Kathy Griffin

It's semi-tragic. Tonight, instead going to see Kathy Griffin (who I know half the world hates, so don't even bother telling me how wrong she is, I think she's fucking funny) I'll be in the East Bay ("Chief, where did I stash those passports?") at our good friend Xian's 40th birthday party.

Of course I'm happy to celebrate this milestone with Xian and our posse, even if it does include a trip over a bridge. But this clip of Kathy Griffin did make me misty over what I'm missing tonight. Just for a minute. I'm over it. Mostly.

The good news is that my friend Alisyn, who is hilarious herself and new to Kathy Love, is using the tickets to see KG for the first time. Which proves that God does open a window when he closes a door, even when it's for foul mouthed, blaspheming, faghaggy funny ladies.

I Married a Mick

Tonight was Irish Heritage night at the Giants. I went with Chief. We wore native costumes. It was fun.


My beanie was the gift with purchase. True to my Irish heritage, I got too drunk to remember the game. No, not really. That was a cheap racist joke at the expense of a silenced and oppressed people. Sorry. Thank God they're all too drunk to read this. Especially because a drunk Irishman has a wicked temper!

Woohoo! I must still be a little high from all the whiskey fumes around me in the bleachers. Those half naked dudes with the Irish flags painted on their chests and heads were just sweating out the hard stuff!

Also, the pussy pitcher from Washington walked Barry all night. We were there to see history, not to watch you chicken out. Thanks for trying to ruin everyone's night. Pussy. You're just lucky we still have the best park.
