Six Random Things: A Meme

Citymama tagged us with the 6 Random Things meme a couple of weeks ago. Even though we love a meme,
we're late getting it up. We'll get to the excuses in a minute. First the administrivia:

Okay, here's the stuff about us. Partly we're late because our whole blog is about random things, and partly because there are three of us to coordinate on a group post like this. Which leads us to random item #1:

There are three of us posting here. A lot of people miss this, perhaps because all of our "names" start with "C" - colleen, cheapgirl and cat. We think we have relatively distinct voices, but obviously we all like the same kinds of things. See our bio page for slightly more information about us here.

Bite Victim

Last Thursday night I enjoyed a lovely sunset in the backyard of my most excellent friend, Nunna Yurbeezwax. We sipped chilled pink wine, told secrets and passed judgment on current events.  As dusk fell we noticed a few mosquitoes, and eventually moved it inside rather than risk equine encephalitis.

Too late. The welts are so big it looks like someone stabbed out cigarettes on my feet.

The itching was intolerable. I had to go on an "unscheduled" Walgreens run for spray-on Bendadryl. Three days later, and I'm still spraying. I fear scarring.

The outdoors can seem like sweet, pastoral good fun but remember: there is always a price to pay. Always.
